A Day Of Quilts

Last weekend I attended the Quilter's Day Out sponsored by the Sew 'n Tell Quilt Guild.  It looked like they had a very nice crowd and I was able to meet some of the members of this local guild.  I might even try to attend a meeting next month as I've never joined a guild.  Looking forward to that!  In the meantime, here's a few photos from the show.
Someone was very resourceful in using up all those little (and I mean little!) scraps.

One of my favorites of the day!

Pretty modern quilts that I found out were made by a former neighbor.  It was nice to see someone I knew and to find out that she is a quilter too!

Here's this week's road photo!  Since the weather was so nice last weekend, we hit the road on the motorcycle and buzzed up to Huber Winery for lunch.  They have the best pizza.  Who knew!

Hope we get that spring weather back soon.  It was kind of a tease but now we might get snow again.  Maybe we can find spring somewhere!   Have a great weekend!

Now Coming to you Monthly.....

My how time flies! It's been a month so I guess it's time to get back to blogging.  If you've ever had a blog for more than a couple of years, you know the blog burn-out syndrome.   That's where I'm at right now.  But enough excuses.....I do have a little trip to tell you about!

A couple of weeks ago, we loaded up our motorcycle in the trailer and hooked it up to our little RV and headed south.  D was in need of a change of scenery from his windowless home office in the basement but had too many deadlines for a real vacation.  Luckily he is able to continue to work as long as he has a good internet connection and cell phone service.  So we ended up at Johnny's Lakeside RV Resort near Gulf Shores Alabama.

I wish I could say that this was our view from the RV, but it was not.  We were parked in a row opposite the construction area of the water park they are adding.  Not the most scenic or quietest area of the park, but we were near the bath/shower house (possibly the nicest showers we've ever seen in a campground!). I'm sure once the water park is complete, it will be a great place for a return visit.
We arrived in time to enjoy a nice warm sunny weekend of motorcycle riding and exploring the area.  We took the ferry across from Ft. Morgan to Dauphin Island one day.

The next day we explored  Fort Morgan and the beaches near there where we saw dolphins playing near the shore.  We also drove over to Pensacola Beach and Orange Beach where we accidentally almost became part of a Mardi Gras parade!  Of course we found several wonderful restaurants and enjoyed some fresh seafood.
The rest of the time, this is pretty much what the inside of the RV looked like once D set up his little remote office in the front seat.

Of course, there's not enough room to take a sewing machine along with me, but I did start on this little project of hexies.  I doubt that I'll ever get enough of these made to any thing more than a little table topper or runner but they are kind of fun.  I also read two and a half books ( Ree Drummond's Black Heels to Tractor Wheels and Nicholas Sparks' Safe Haven.  I highly recommend both!) and did quite a bit of walking and biking around the resort.

It was nice to get away for a few days and even be able to do some motorcycle riding in February.  Since then we've also made a trip to St. Louis where we visited with family  and had the RV serviced.  Of course, D still had to work, but his company has an office there and I was happy to spend some time with these two cuties!

And these two cuties were happy to see us when we got home.  I'm not sure who missed us more!

Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to catch up with what we've been up to!
